Martin and I love Normandy and to find a holiday home so lovely is a bonus. The cottage was pristine, beautifully furnished and comfortable and we thought the surrounding gardens and views quite enchanting. We wish we'd had longer there, especially as our visit was interrupted by the Paris trip, but hope to make it back in the future.

Our two weeks stay in La Herpiniere were a delight. We’ve spent several gite holidays in France, but yours is undoubtedly the most attractive. We were impressed by the workmanship, the attention to detail and the high standard of hygiene throughout. The garden is idyllic, the views are enchanting and the hospitality warm. We came across your entry in Chez Nous, purely by chance and finding it has turned out to be serendipitous.

Thank you so much for a fantastic stay at your gite. Despite busy days exploring just some of what the surrounding area has to offer, we returned home so relaxed and chilled. The gite was, in the words of 10 year old Jack, stunning, the setting beautiful and the peacefulness perfect. When we arrived the gite was so immaculate, we really felt that we were the first people ever to stay there. The bottle of wine was such a nice touch too.

Just had a great week at La Herpiniere. The gite was just like the photos on the website/brochure. Really comfortable and excellently fitted out. Gardens amazing. Tony & Natalia recommended 3 places to eat, all excellent and one of them was one of the best meals we'd ever had! Highly recommended. Thanks.

After a great 2 weeks at La Herpiniere last June we decided we really wanted to return – especially after a dire English winter. We were equally delighted with the cottage this time – the same clever combination of ancient features ingeniously integrated with modern comforts. Even though we had toured the area extensively on our last visit, we still found plenty of new places to visit – and we have some left over for a third time. A la presque bientot Natalia and Tony

We had originally booked a week in October for our stay at La Herpiniere but had to cancel due to the fuel crises in France, Natalia kindly offered to transfer our booking to April this year , what a blessing, wonderful weather all week in this most beautiful setting. The gite is everything one could wish for, beautifully restored but with every modern convenience, we looked forward to coming 'home' each day, sitting outside with a glass of wine admiring the beautiful gardens Tony and Natalia have created, they were excellent hosts, helpful and informative without being intrusive. We would recommend La Herpiniere without reservation and hope to return. Thankyou Tony and Natalia for a really wonderful week, it really is a 'little piece of heaven'.

A superb gite in a lovely part of Normandy. Natalia made us feel most welcome and happily answered our endless questions about life in France. Tony was away but we hope to pay a return visit in the future and look forward to meeting him then. Thanks once again Natalia for a wonderful week. We highly recommend your gite to anybody looking for a special place, with beautiful countryside, lovely walks, interesting nearby towns and good restaurants.
Best wishes, Janet and Russell.

Now back in the UK after our three weeks in France. We had a lovely time in all three locations which were widely different and gave us a lot of variety and new experiences.

This short email is just to repeat what we said in the Visitors' Book and to you before we left. We had a very pleasant time at your home and greatly enjoyed it as a base to re-visit some parts of France that we know quite well, but your recommendation to visit St Malo was 'spot on'.

Hope you and Tony enjoy your own holiday and thanks, once again, for your hospitality and assistance.

Best wishes

We have had the most relaxing week at La Herpiniere. It's all been said before but is so true - charming, well equipped gite in a beautiful garden with fabulous countryside all around. Friendly, discreet hosts. If you want to get away from it all and be disturbed by nothing more than the birds and the bees, this is definately the place to be.

20 minutes after arriving at La Herpiniere, Heather announced to Natalia that we were not going home – ever! She would have to eject us at the end of our 14 days. La Herpiniere is like a Hansel and Gretel cottage, but with 2 important differences: one is the friendly and welcoming hosts, the other is the provision of all modern conveniences. The cottage has been restored sympathetically and expertly to the highest possible standard. We will recommend La Herpiniere whole-heartedly, but only to people who will fully appreciate its peace and beauty.

We spent first week of June in this excellent gite. Lovely hosts and accomodation was brilliant, very clean and great to have the option of wood fires. Fantastic gardens, we really felt at home here with the chickens roaming about (only after asking if we minded) and visits from their cat. Very relaxing and restful hols.

We've just returned from a fantastic week at La Herpiniere. The gite was lovely, wonderfully cosy and made for a perfect base during an occasionally chilly October holiday. Plenty to see & do around Normandy, and everything we could need in the gite. Would highly recommend, in Summer or otherwise, and a big thanks to Tony & Natalia for having us and for the great hospitality!

Just come back from the Gite, spent the May bank holiday week there, Its everything they say, and more! Plenty of space (the photos make the Gite and grounds look smaller than they really are), and peace and quiet. Our hosts were warm and friendly, and gave us a nice welcome after a long and tiring journey. Want to get away from it all? - just walk down to the picnic bench in the orchard for a nice bit of seclusion. Want to view some spectacular gardens? - just have a wander around the grounds (and the new pond). Want to go for a pleasant walk? - take a picnic down to Bellefontaine with its picnic spot, and walk back up the hill past the water mill with its little waterfall and statue. Cycling? - Converted railway line nearby. Kids will love it - our grown-up ones (50-something) loved feeding the chickens! Want to watch tele (can't see why you would want to!) - the facilities are all there. Chilly evening? - settle down in front of the log fire. Too hot and sunny? - plenty of shady trees to sit under. Want to explore? - lots of walks within a few miles, including the pretty cascades of Mortain, or you are not far away from Mont St Michel.

This is a lovingly restored, spotlessly clean and well equipped gite in a beautiful location, with charming owners! The weather during our stay was not ideal but we still managed to have a relaxing and enjoyable break with some walking and interesting visits to mediaeval Vitre, the bell foundry at Villedieu and the new Scriptorium in Avranche. On the last evening a five course meal at the local Auberge rounded off our stay perfectly!

We have just had a wonderful week! It really is a most beautiful spot and Tony and Natalia see you are well looked after. The gite is lovely with glorious views over rolling hills(even after the rain) and Natalia's pretty gardens. An exceptionally well equipped and beautifully renovated gite. Although we were there in summer, we could see it would also be great for a spring or autumn break. If you like to walk, cycle or relax it is ideal. Highly recommended!

We had a great stay at this pretty gite a few months ago which has been beautifully renovated. Everything had been thought of from the pristine bathroom to the well equipped kitchen. There were filters for the coffee machine, a bottle of wine was left for us and there was even cutlery and crockery for babies along with the high chair if needed.

We stayed in winter during one of the wettest weeks and the place was cosy and warm. It has electric heaters as well as the wood burners. If we enjoyed it at this time of year, I can’t imagine how nice it must be in summer when you can sit outside and enjoy the wonderful countryside and huge view.

Natalia and Tony were lovely hosts. They are knowledgeable about the local area and can’t do enough for guests – Tony even went up to the gite every afternoon when we were out to light the fire so the place was warm for us to come home to!

Highly recomended.
